Looks
Where the length and texture go: the effect laid over your eye's map.
A look is the shape the lash line makes: where the longest lashes sit, and whether the line is smooth, textured or spiked. It sits on top of the map for your eye, which is why one look can be adjusted for different eyes, and why some looks do not suit some eyes at all.
9 topics below. Open any of them.
- Curl
- B · C
- Length
- Even 8–12 mm gradient
- Fibre
- 0.05–0.12 mm
Your own lashes on their best day: an even gradient that follows the eye, with no spikes and no drama. It is the safest first set and the one most often mistaken for real lashes.
Who it suits
- Every eye shape
- B or C curl, an even 8 to 12 mm
- Classic, hybrid or light volume
Less suited
- Anyone who wants the set to be noticed
Ask your artist
“How close to my own length will it be?”
- Curl
- C · CC
- Length
- Base 9–11 mm, spikes +2–3 mm
- Fibre
- 0.05–0.07 mm
A rhythm of longer spikes over a softer, shorter base. The texture comes from the gaps: the negative space is the design. Made with hybrid or volume, it moves like hair and photographs well.
Who it suits
- Almond, round and upturned eyes
- C or CC curl; base 9 to 11 mm, spikes 2 to 3 mm longer
- Hybrid or volume
Less suited
- Very sparse natural lashes, where the gaps show as bald patches
- Closed fans that fill the gaps
Ask your artist
“How many spikes, and how far apart?”
- Curl
- C · CC · D
- Length
- 9–13 mm
- Fibre
- 0.05–0.07 mm, closed fans
Closed fans form fine, glossy spikes that read as a dark, clean line, as if the lashes were wet. Defined rather than fluffy.
Who it suits
- Round, almond and prominent eyes
- C, CC or D curl, 9 to 13 mm
- Volume with closed fans
Less suited
- Hooded eyes with little lid space, where the spikes hide under the fold
- Open, fluffy fans
Ask your artist
“How closed will the fans be?”
- Curl
- CC · D
- Length
- Base 8–10 mm, spikes 12–15 mm
- Fibre
- 0.05–0.07 mm
Longer spikes placed at a planned frequency over a shorter base: an editorial, graphic line. The placement is the whole look, so it is mapped, never random.
Who it suits
- Almond and upturned eyes
- CC or D curl; base 8 to 10 mm, spikes 12 to 15 mm
Less suited
- Downturned eyes
- Random spike placement
Ask your artist
“Where will the spikes fall on my eye?”
- Curl
- C inner · D outer
- Length
- 7 mm inner to 14 mm outer
- Fibre
- 0.05–0.07 mm
The lashes grow longer toward the outer corner, lengthening and lifting the eye like a flick of liner.
Who it suits
- Round, close-set and prominent eyes
- C curl inside, D outside; 7 mm inner to 14 mm outer
Less suited
- Downturned eyes: it pulls the corner down
- Wide-set eyes, which it widens further
Ask your artist
“How long will the outer corner be, and will it drag my eye down?”
- Curl
- CC · D centre
- Length
- 9 mm corners to 14 mm centre
- Fibre
- 0.05–0.07 mm
The longest lashes sit over the centre of the eye, above the iris, so the eye looks rounder and more open.
Who it suits
- Almond, hooded, wide-set and downturned eyes
- CC or D curl at the centre; 9 mm corners to 14 mm centre
Less suited
- Round and prominent eyes, which it makes rounder still
Ask your artist
“Will it open my eye or make it look rounder?”
- Curl
- CC · D
- Length
- Peak at the outer third, shorter at the corner
The longest lashes sit at the outer third, just before the corner, then shorten. The eye lifts up and out without the drag of a full cat eye, which makes it a good lifted line for downturned and hooded eyes.
Who it suits
- Downturned, hooded and almond eyes
- CC or D curl, the peak at the outer third
- Hybrid or volume
Less suited
- A peak placed at the very corner, which turns it into a cat eye
Ask your artist
“Where exactly will the peak sit?”
- Fibre
- 0.03–0.05 mm, tight fans
Dense, closed fans packed at the base draw a dark line along the lashes, like a soft eyeliner, while the tips stay light. It suits people who wear liner every day and would like to stop.
Who it suits
- Almond, round and upturned eyes
- Volume or mega volume on strong lashes
- People who wear liner every day
Less suited
- Hooded eyes with little visible lid, where the line hides under the fold
- Fine lashes that cannot carry dense fans
Ask your artist
“How dense can the base be on my lashes?”
Brown fibres soften the line. On fair skin, light natural lashes or light eyes they read as your own lashes rather than a drawn line, and a mix of brown and black gives depth with a softer edge. They are usually applied with a clear adhesive.
Who it suits
- Fair skin, and blonde or red lashes
- Light eyes, where brown lets the colour stand out
- Natural and wispy looks
Less suited
- Very dark lashes and brows, where brown can look faded
Ask your artist
“Would a brown and black mix suit my colouring?”
